Chloe Shackelton
Chloe Shackelton is a self taught artist, with a nod to her grandmother's watercolour pencil crayons at the kitchen table as a young child. As a neurodiverse artist, she is naturally drawn to try new things, a perpetual dabbler, it is hard to say what medium will be next. She has worked with everything from embroidery to furniture refinishing, from gardening to drawing neurographics, where unique use of colour is central to her creations, and painting has always been the heart and soul of her creative process.
Chloe is in constant awe of the natural world. She attempts to capture the fleeting beauty of light, nature, and colour utilizing various creative mediums. Her paintings, ranging from delicate watercolour flower studies to large canvas acrylic expansive skies, reflect a deep appreciation for the environment. Chloe also loves photography and can be found capturing local events, chasing sunsets, or taking close ups of plants or flowers. She creates for self-discovery, reflective healing, and the love of intentional exploration and playfulness.
Chloe's first passion is supporting others and their creative journeys. An avid volunteer, writer, researcher, social service worker, facilitator, holistic wellness practitioner, and cultural anthropologist, she blends her appetite for learning and curiosity about the human condition with her love of the arts and culture through various community arts engagement projects. She has been creating opportunities for artists and artisans to show their work for over 30 years, including the artist and makers featured in the Beaver Creek Vineyard gift shop, and as the director of the heART of the Valley Art Show & Sale at the Macdonald Museum in Middleton.
