Sara Adams
Artist, Educator, Counselling Therapist, and Expressive Arts Practitioner
Sara Adams is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate based in Nova Scotia, Canada. Her work bridges the worlds of creativity, education, mental health, and community wellness, grounded in a belief that the arts have the power to foster connection, resilience, healing, and personal growth.Working across a variety of artistic mediums, Sara is particularly drawn to fibre arts, visual art, movement, and expressive arts practices. A traditional rug hooker, she often describes her process as “painting with yarn,” blending colour, texture, and storytelling to create meaningful works inspired by nature, memory, and everyday experience.Sara brings more than twenty years of experience in education, having taught and developed programs in the arts, sciences, languages, and wellness. She holds degrees in education and Francophone studies, a Diploma in Visual Art Education from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counselling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy.
Through her private practice, LEAP Wellness, she integrates creative and embodied approaches to support mental health, self-discovery, and well-being.A lifelong dancer and movement educator, Sara has trained and performed in a variety of dance styles and remains passionate about making dance accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Her work has included community arts programming, arts-based education, and creative wellness initiatives for children, adults, older adults, and individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and dementia.Whether creating, teaching, facilitating, or performing, Sara is inspired by the ways artistic expression can help people connect more deeply with themselves, one another, and the world around them.
