Sara Adams

Various Mediums Artist, Educator, & Practitioner of Expressive Arts Therapy

Sara Adams is a multifaceted artist, educator, and practitioner of Expressive Arts Therapy based in Nova Scotia, Canada. With a primary focus on traditional rug hooking, she seamlessly blends fibers to create intricate tapestries, describing her craft as 'painting with yarn.'

Her educational background spans various disciplines, including secondary school teaching in French, Biology, Dance, Yoga, and Visual Arts. Sara holds a Diploma in Visual Art Education from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, along with a Master of Arts & Education in Francophone Literature and Culture. Currently pursuing a Master's in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy, Sara is passionate about integrating counseling techniques into her artistic practice.

A lifelong dancer, Sara's journey began in her mother's womb, attending jazz dance classes before birth. Since then, she has trained extensively in jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, ballet, and various other styles, continually expanding her movement vocabulary. As an advocate for dance in public education, Sara has served as President of the Board of Dance Nova Scotia, striving to make dance accessible to all.

When not immersed in teaching, crafting, or advocating, Sara cherishes moments with her two daughters and husband, finding inspiration in the beauty of everyday life.
